Ladies Learning Code is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as our 2017 Summer Camp Lead for the Kids & Girls Learning Code.

As our Camp Lead, you will support the Kids Learning Code team with your understanding and experience with child engagement best practices and volunteer coordination. Based on your knowledge, you will help us to maintain our high quality camp experience. You will be the “go-to” person for parents, mentors and kids.

You are an excellent candidate for this role is you are a recent graduate of a Child and Youth Counselor program and/or have Camp Counselor experience, have excellent written and oral communication skills and are passionate about learning environments for kids. You are a flexible team player and confident in asking the right questions and being engaged to find positive solutions.

The Role

As the Camp Lead, you will maintain our high standard and contribute from your experience to Kids Learning Code’s biggest programs, Summer Camp. In your day-to-day role, you will work with mentors and campers, and promote the Kids Learning Code vision of inclusivity and accessibility of technology education. You will be the go-to person for general camp info for mentors, learners and Youth Engagement Counsellors. You will need to be mindful, understanding, and proactive in this role, to help us continue to be a leader in kids programming in our community and beyond.

About you

  • You have recently graduated from a Child and Youth Worker program, teachers college and/or have relevant experience
  • You have youth behaviour management skills
  • You are organized and have the ability to command the attention of a group
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills
  • You are passionate about learning environments
  • You are passionate about technology
  • Experience in a classroom setting or camp is a strong asset

Your Responsibilities

  • Active involvement in delivery and implementation of the camp program
  • Assist with responding to parent questions and concerns to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist with registering campers for summer day camps and maintain registration records
  • Ensure programs run on schedule and all required supplies are purchased
  • Communicate camp flow throughout the week
  • Assist leads and mentors in managing behaviour inside and outside the classroom

Some key details about the position:

  • This is a contract position (contract is from July 1st to August 31st)
  • A police check will be required
  • References will be required
  • First aid and cpr training will be required / provided
