Ladies Learning Code is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as our 2017 Summer Camp Volunteer Experience Coordinator for Kids & Girls Learning Code. Our camps consist of daily technology workshops led by experts, field trips, and demo days. The age range of our campers are between the ages of 7 to 13 years old.

As our Camp Volunteer Experience Coordinator, you will support the Kids & Girls Learning Code team with your experience working with volunteers as they help guide our young campers embark on learning about the world of technology. You will help us to maintain our high quality camp experience and promote the Kids Learning Code vision of inclusivity and accessibility of technology education.

The Role

Working with our team, You will support the Kids Learning Code team with your understanding and experience with volunteer management and engagement best practices and coordination. You will help us to further develop our camp programs, and train our mentors and volunteers based on your knowledge to ensure a successful camp.

You will use your experience, knowledge and passion in volunteer engagement to contribute to our high quality of camp programming. You will need to be mindful, understanding, and proactive in this role, to help us continue to be a leader in kids programming in our community and beyond.

You are an excellent candidate for this role is you are a graduate of or enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program and/or have Volunteer Management experience, have excellent written and oral communication skills and are passionate about learning environments for kids. You are a flexible team player and confident in asking the right questions and being engaged to find positive solutions.

  • You have event organization and coordination experience/skills
  • You are organized and have the ability to command the attention of a group
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in a classroom setting or camp is an asset

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist with responding to parent questions and concerns to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist with checking in and checking out registered volunteers
  • Lead how to manage learner behaviour with volunteers - inside and outside the workshops and be familiarized with our Behavioral Management resources Help the Camp Lead facilitate icebreakers and group games with volunteers Be present at before and after-care Ensure the computer lab and open space is clean and tidy at all times Be a resource for general camp info for volunteers parents Help write thank-you cards for volunteers

Some key details about the position:

  • This is a contract position (contract is from July 1st to August 31st)
  • A police check will be required
  • References will be required
  • First aid and CPR training will be required / provided
