Ladies Learning Code is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as our 2017 Summer Camp Learner Experience Coordinator for Kids & Girls Learning Code. Our camps consist of daily technology workshops led by experts, field trips, and demo days. The age range of our campers are between the ages of 7 to 13 years old.

As our Camp Learner Experience Coordinator, you will support the Kids & Girls Learning Code team with your experience working with kids and youth as they embark on learning about the world of technology. You will help us to maintain our high quality camp experience for campers and promote the Kids Learning Code vision of inclusivity and accessibility of technology education.

You are an excellent candidate for this role is you are a recent graduate of a Child and Youth Counselor program and/or have Camp Counselor experience, have excellent written and oral communication skills and are passionate about learning environments for kids. You are a flexible team player and confident in asking the right questions and being engaged to find positive solutions.

The Role

Working with our team, you will help ensure that the experience for campers (and parents) are positive. You will use your experience, knowledge and passion in youth engagement to contribute to our high quality of camp programming. You will need to be mindful, understanding, and proactive in this role, to help us continue to be a leader in kids programming in our community and beyond.

About you

  • You have recently graduated from a Child and Youth Counsellor program and/or have relevant experience
  • You have youth behaviour-management skills
  • You are organized and have the ability to build rapport with kids and youth
  • You have strong written and oral communication skills
  • You are passionate about creating engaging learning environments
  • You are passionate about technology
  • Experience in a classroom setting or camp is a strong asset

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist with responding to parent questions and concerns to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist with checking in and checking out registered campers
  • Assist leads and mentors in managing behaviour inside and outside the workshops and be familiarized with our Behavioral Management resources
  • Help the Camp Lead facilitate icebreakers and group games
  • Be present at before and after-care
  • Ensure the computer lab and open space is clean and tidy at all times
  • Be a resource for general camp info for both learners and parents.

Some key details about the position:

  • This is a contract position (contract is from July 1st to August 31st)
  • A police check will be required
  • References will be required
  • First aid and CPR training will be required / provided
