Web Developer (Front End)

The Web Developer has a basic understanding the business of advertising, marketing, and branding specifically the tools and programming languages that can best be used to make those engaging experiences.

Are adept at front end coding (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc.) and take both strategic and tactical approaches to solve problems. They also understand that we are in a business, and we are solving business goals based on budgets, timing and costs.

The Web Developer is versed (with hands on experience) in integrating with at least one web platform (ie. PHP/LAMP, .Net, Java, etc.).

The role requires a strong mix of technical skills and preferably, agency experience.

The Web Developer should be able to meet a strong majority of the following requirements:

Provide technical expertise based on experience Participate in internal meetings Participate in research of new and emerging technologies to vet best-in-class solutions for projects Provide technical scoping assistance where needed, hours estimates, etc. Consistently deliver high-quality, scalable and timely solutions to our clients. Support projects in production by providing expertise and advice to aid problem solving and maintenance. Proactively maintain up to date knowledge relating to front end development, tools, emerging technology and social media platforms Make our work better by leveraging the power of technology and development Work across multiple projects/accounts Be open minded and apolitical Excellent grasp of progressive industry best practices and W3C Standards Excellent grasp of AODA and WCAG Standards Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) Able to build and maintain professional grade Web sites Innovative thinker and creative problem solver Attention to detail and organized Independent worker Ability to deal with compressed schedules Ability to pick up existing projects / requirements Ability to juggle multiple projects Basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process Experience developing cross-browser compatible code based on web standards Experience with back-end web development and server-side scripting Experience building mobile first and responsive web experiences

The Web Developer also should have a strong majority of the following qualifications:

Relevant development or related experience; previous agency experience is a desired Proven track record with an emphasis on interactive advertising An excellent knowledge of emerging technologies, trends and markup languages & frameworks within Digital/mobile Expert experience and knowledge of implementing/integrating the with the following: PHP Angular or other FE framework HTML, HTML5, javascript, jQuery, CSS, Bootstrap (all essential) Standards for accessibility, SEO and interactivity A wide variety of social media API’s such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flicker, Blogs, etc. Analytics software (Google Analytics, Omniture)

Effective communication Always maintain a calm, professional demeanor and objectivity, even in the face of pressure Be able to demonstrate a pragmatic and conscientious overall approach but also enjoy pushing boundaries and driving change Demonstrate commitment to the agency and its continued success Understand the strengths and limitations of current and emerging platforms Ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Core Technical Competencies

2 years+ Front end development (will consider less for extraordinary candidates) 2 years+ working with front-end scripting libraries – jQuery is our shop standard development (will consider less for extraordinary candidates) Strong understanding of HTML/CSS fundamentals
