Provides the UAR department with systems support to ensure the efficient processing of applications, communications, and admissions decisions including but not limited to systems testing, queries, writing macros, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and XML Publisher, Google Apps for Education, and the processing of application data received from the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (including On-Line Response). Develops and generates complex communications in the admissions SAS by coding, proofing, editing and ensuring the accuracy of communications. Participates in system upgrade and testing processes as required; maintains/and writes systems procedure documents and communications manuals.
QUALIFICATIONS Successful completion of a post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (preferred) or a related discipline, with a minimum of three years related work experience in enterprise systems, including ECM systems, writing macros, queries, systems testing, systems and business process analysis and documentation, preferably in a college or university admissions environment and preferably with Oracle/PeopleSoft are required.
Demonstrated systems support and troubleshooting experience to resolve issues using current and future systems and systems software, including proper processing of application and systems data, overseeing and running the online response process to ensure successful downloads and investigating and problem-solving skills in order to investigate reports of incorrect file/student matches, assisting with the resolution of process issues and problems as they arise and leading systems upgrades, patches, fixes and cut-over activities.
A demonstrated commitment to client service - specifically staff, faculty, students and external contacts. Strong interpersonal skills along with sound judgement, tact and diplomacy.
Strong oral and written communication skills are required to liaise with CCS to troubleshoot, as primary Central File and Print Service contact and to liaise with support and service personnel and with other vendors as required to maintain equipment.
Attention to detail and accuracy are required to troubleshoot, develop, code and generate complex communications in the admission SAS and to ensure that the quality assurance protocols for external communications are rigorous and thorough.
Strong Proficiency in spreadsheet design and development is required to build, establish and maintain an information system to process various financial and statistical information that include collecting, reviewing and analyzing the data required in target management, research and applicant qualitative analysis, competition indexing/calculation of yield rates, 1 to 3 year projections and percentage change etc.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Advanced Excel including manipulation of large data sets, Advanced Word functions, Visio and PowerPoint. Experienced with Google Apps for Education. Establish computer navigation skills.
Strong time management skills and flexibility are required to effectively prioritize and ensure completion of assigned work, to change priorities as the need arises and to work overtime as required by the demands of the position.
An ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
